You will need:
-Rice Krispie Treat Cereal
-Butter
-Mini Marshmallows
-Americolor Food Coloring – Super Red
-Americolor Food Coloring – Leaf Green
-Cookie Sheets
-Christmas Cookie Cutters
-Alphabet Cookie Cutters
We started with three batches of yummy, delicious Rice Krispie Treats. Each batch was made with 5 tablespoons of butter, 5 cups of mini marshmallows and 5 cups of Rice Krispies Cereral.
We colored two of the batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture. One Red, using Americolor Super Red Food Coloring and the other green using Americolor Leaf Green Food Coloring. Add the following coloring to the marshmallow mixture BEFORE you add the Rice Krispie Cereal.
Pour the Rice Krispie mixture onto buttered cookie sheets. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes. Then butter your hands and press down the Rice Krispie Treat mixture so it fills the cookie sheet. Try your best to make sure that each tray of Rice Krispie Treats are the same height.
Cut the Rice Krispie Treats into squares. Make sure that the squares are big enough for the Christmas cookie cutters that you are going to use.
Pick two squares to make your first pair of Merry Christmas Rice Krispie Treats.
Pick a Christmas Cookie Cutter and make a cut-out on each square.
Now switch the cut-outs and put them back in the squares. The Merry Christmas Rice Krispie Treats are sticky from the marshmallows so you will be able to push the shapes back together.
We trimmed the un-even edges of the Merry Christmas Rice Krispie Treats as a final touch.
